About this symptom
Vomiting may occur with infections, food-related illness, migraine, pregnancy, or other conditions. Preventing dehydration is important.

Gentle self-care
- Take frequent, small sips of water or oral rehydration fluids.
- When settled, try bland foods in small amounts.
- Rest and monitor urine output and alertness.
When to seek medical care
- Blood or green material in vomit, severe stomach pain, or confusion.
- Signs of dehydration such as very little urine, severe dizziness, or inability to keep fluids down.
- Vomiting after a head injury or in a young infant.
